{ Card kit Monday }

So I had this brilliant idea. Ha! I saw this awesome canvas with a pineapple on it. I updated my Silhouette Studio to the new software and I had some cutting issues with the brand new blade. It’s all working now. I just had to turn the machine off and back on. Anyway, it has nothing to do with the pineapple, even though I did design several different versions and some awesome girls helped me pick the best one on Instagram. (Finished project coming soon).

Back to the card kit. I love to participate in different challenges and lately I have been making mini card kits in my Studio and cutting everything up and making a card. Today’s card took minutes. I wanted to create a card for MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge. I went into my stash of cut files, and by my stash I mean all the cut files I have created from scratch. Here is my card based on the sketch.

Hello by Daniela Dobson

These are the items I had in my file stash. The doily is really old. I made that when I discovered how to make them years ago. The arrow is old as well and I had that one, along with some others, turned into stamps. Hello is my own handwriting that I created the other day. I took an awesome class from Kerri Bradford and that was one of the lessons.

Here are the items I used.

Card kit by Daniela Dobson

I used the sketch exactly as is, adding my own elements. What I would like to do is make another card with the same card kit and share it with you next Monday. I might pick a different sketch/challenge, or just make my own creation. What do you think? Let me know. If it’s something you like I might be able to share these kits with you.

{ Die Week: Adding Dimension Without Bulk }

Hi and happy Friday. Last week we were celebrating Dies on Technique Tuesday blog. If you missed it, make sure you check it out. Lots of great ideas using Technique Tuesday dies.

Here is a card I created using several different dies.

Happy day by Daniela Dobson

Dies used: Marquee Label, Photo Frame, This Tag, Label and Story Card.
Oh Happy Day stamp set
I added some gesso to the patterned paper for those watercolor colors to pop. I cut the dies from various papers and vellum. Everything works so well together. Look close and you'll see six different die-cuts underneath that pretty butterfly. Die-cuts are a great way to add dimension to a card without adding a lot of weight and bulk, which helps keep the card affordable to mail!

If you remember when I shared this card, for the watercolor blog hop, I used the Marquee Label to make the flower.

{ Impression Obsession DT challenge – Celebrate You }

Hello and happy Thursday. It’s that time again, Impression Obsession DT challenge. This was a really fun to make and I really like to watercolor and need to do it more often. There are several butterflies I have in my collection and I couldn’t decide which one to use. I usually stamp everything in black ink and today I decided to use white embossing powder, on watercolor paper.

Celebrate by Daniela Dobson

I started by stamping and heat embossing Circle Fusion 1 on watercolor cardstock. I always keep an eye out when Michaels has them on sale, and on sale I mean 3 for the price of 1. That is an awesome deal. I used my Caran d'Ache Classic Neocolor II Water-Soluble Pastels and colored the background. I use my heat gun to dry each color before adding a different one.

Background Circle Fusion 1 by Impression Obsession

I love layering different elements together and instead of cutting up different pieces of Patterned paper I stamped various banners and washi. I recently cleaned and organized my room and all my stamps. I am still working on cataloging everything. That might take a while. The point is, I can find everything I am looking for. While organizing I found some loved and forgotten stamps.
On top of the washi and banner I heat embossed a little polaroid frame. I cut the butterfly out and added it to the card using 3D foam squares. The gold striped vellum is from a little vellum pack that I got long time ago that I love!!! I have been adding it everything.

Smile by Daniela Dobson

I used a woodgrain mask for the background to apply modeling paste and then I added watercolor with my watercolor crayon. It’s quick and easy and my favorite technique. See the list below for stamps and dies used on this card. I just love that butterfly die, it’s from the new June Fresh Cut Studio.

{ Impression Obsession DT challenge–Party time }

Today is the last day of school so we are partying for sure around here. Alex is done with first grade! I can’t believe how fast time flies.

I created this card using Impression Obsession dies and some fun Deco Foil from Therm O Web. I have step by step instructions on how I created the card with the Deco Foil on Therm O Web blog if you would like and take a look.

Congrats by Daniela Dobson

I die cut the Happy Day Frame and added 3D foam squares to give it dimension. That Congrats die font is beautiful. I adhered the patterned paper to Therm O  Web iCraft® Deco Foil™ White Foam Adhesive, first, and then I die cut the word. The star is die cut from foam, as well, and covered with gold Deco Foil. That foam is seriously amazing, it has adhesive on both sides and it’s perfect for those delicate die cuts.

Congrats close by Daniela Dobson

This second card I created for a friend that graduated several weeks ago.

Congrats grad by Daniela Dobson

For this one, I used the Congrats die and Grad die. They are both cut from Therm O  Web iCraft® Deco Foil™ White Foam Adhesive, just like the first card. That gives it so much dimension. I added a cap and tassel from Mortarboard & Scroll die. The little bag in the front is perfect for some cash or a gift card. The patterned paper and the happiness tag is from Elle’s Studio.

I added a little stamp on the inside of the card with light ink and I wrote my message all the way to “congratulations”. Both stamps are from Hats Off stamp set.

{ June 2015 Memory Keepers Studio by Technique Tuesday }

It’s time for June release of Memory Keepers Studio- Oh Happy Day and Fresh Cut Studio – Happy Butterfly. This stamp set is shipping June 15. If you are not a member of Memory Keepers Studio come and see how you can sign up --->>> HERE.

Here is a card I created using the stamps and dies.

How beautiful is that butterfly? Love this set. I used a mixture of my favorite colors. I layered several different elements including Label - DIY Steel Die (which I use on pretty much everything) and Circles - DIY Steel Dies. The vellum backing on the butterfly I traced around the die and cut it out by hand.

Come check  out the new stamps and see what else is NEW for June.
